Goals and Benchmarks
The Boston Opportunity Agenda is dedicated
to ensuring that all of Boston’s residents have the opportunity to acquire the education
they need to find work in the region’s knowledge economy and help them lead secure,
fulfilling lives.
The Agenda’s approach connects leading edge,
successful nonprofit organizations with deep systems change already underway inside
our schools in order to bring effective programs into the mainstream of our educational
systems—for children and adults—and then leverage these approaches for the greatest
possible impact across the entire education pipeline.
The benchmarks are aligned with the Boston Public Schools’ Acceleration
Agenda, a roadmap that has set high academic goals for students to
reach by 2014.
This is not an “initiative,” rather it is a long-term partnership aimed at achieving
transformative progress on a very large scale.
